I’m well aware of the length between posts. I’m also well aware that my followers are few more than my family and friends who have either recently seen my family in person or on Facebook. At any rate, I enjoy this medium more than any other online source, if only that I have more control over the appearance and advertising content (none). Aside from all that, the one thing that makes me very happy is that my last four blog posts have ALL been more recent than my brother’s last Derby post. Sure, Chris, you might be able to bench press me and Casey with your muscular pinkies, but you sure as bleep can’t blog post.

Caroline Leigh Vincent

Casey, Claire and I joyously welcomed Caroline into being at 11:56 am on Thursday, August 19. Casey went into initial labor at about 3 PM on Wednesday. By 8 PM this had turned into the I’m-definitely-going-to-have-a-baby kind of labor. At 9:30 PM we turned over Claire into Katie’s capable hands and made haste to the hospital. Contractions…tests…pain…needles…contractions…no sleep…you get the idea. At 11 AM the next morning Caroline was finally ready to be gently ushered (or violently forced) from womb to Weymouth. If there was a Hall of Fame for baby pushers, Casey would be first ballot. She did an amazing job, despite all the “unpleasantries” that accompany childbirth, and emerged as fit as one could expect. Caroline checked in on her due date at 7 lbs 12 oz and 20.5″ long, healthy and loud. And that’s the story of Caroline.

We are home now, adjusting to life with a family four. And we couldn’t be happier. Our girls are a tremendous joy that we couldn’t have imagined even three years ago. We want to extend our deepest thank-you to our family and friends who continue to amaze us with their steadfast support and selfless generosity.

We hope that you enjoy the videos and pictures below. These are undoubtedly the first of many!

Due to our most recent addition, I’ve been forced to change the title of the blog. I feel the new title accurately represents the content of the blog as it’s primarily dedicated to tracking the activity of my familial women. There is one other CV that plays a prominent role in my daily doings, but we’ll let his blog tell his story.

You may have noticed the lack of posts over the last few months…sorry. We’ve been busy getting ready for #2. She is due in 10 days or so, and it feels the more we try to get ready, the less ready we are! Casey is ready, however. She’s doing a phenomenal job bearing this child in the hottest summer in decades, but she’s had enough. Evidently, so has the baby. As of yesterday, she dropped, down into the starting blocks, four-point stance, ready for the gun. This doesn’t mean that labor is imminent, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction. We’ll be sure to keep you posted!!!

Spring

Spring in Boston has brought with it heavy rains, sunny days, and the customary feeling of relief that another long New England winter has ended. We have taken advantage of the intermittent sunshine by playing on the beach and spending some time in Boston. And on those rainy days we’ve tried to keep Claire entertained with indoor activities, such as taking her to a play area.

The first few beach pictures are at Hingham Bathing Beach. If you couldn’t tell by Claire’s attire, it was a cold day. So cold, in fact, that Casey enjoyed the beach from the passenger seat of the car. The indoor pictures are at a play space in Plymouth. Claire was very timid and wouldn’t enter the bouncy house. At least she got in the jungle gym, but only once Daddy climbed in with her. The greenery you see in Boston is the Rose Kennedy Greenway. If you’re not familiar with this, the Greenway is the aboveground result of the Big Dig. In the pictures, Claire is standing where the southbound lane of the I-93 Expressway once ran. And finally, if you’re wondering about the large, silver slabs that Claire is playing on in some of the Boston pictures, you can find information about the artist here and the exhibit here.

We had a great time over the holidays with family and friends. Since, as the old adage declares, a picture is worth a thousand words, let’s get to the images, both still and moving, in chronological order.

For us, fall brings a lot of fun times including Claire’s birthday, playing in the leaves, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Stroll, etc. Not all of these events have happened yet, but we’ve tried to catalog those that have. We hope you’re all doing well and that you enjoy our pictures!

Here are some shots from Claire’s 2nd birthday party (thanks to Audrey and Katie for coming to celebrate!), a copy of the picture we entered into the Gap Baby contest (Claire in her green sweater), fun in the leaf pile, and Halloween.

And finally, here are a couple pictures from Dan’s surprise 30th birthday party. No, it wasn’t a costume party but Chris and I thought it would be fun to dress up anyway. Our wives were THRILLED! About 3 seconds after Dan arrive, I had an unfortunate accident due to my tight polyester pants. Live long and prosper.

We’re running low on content these days, so Casey and I have decided to rededicate ourselves to the digital cataloging of Claire. This is one of the most current videos we have, and it’s from four weeks ago! During those four weeks her articulation has improved dramatically, so she can actually sing this song much clearer these days.

We miss you all, and can’t wait to see you over the holidays, which are right around the corner!
