Happy Birthday Claire!

What a wild trip!  After 9 months of gestation, 14 hours of early labor, 15 hours of active labor and transition, and 1.5 hours of pushing, Claire was FINALLY born at 2:55 am on Tuesday, October 2, 2007.  Casey did a great job coping through these mostly unpleasant two days and an incredible job during delivery.

At birth, Claire weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 1/2 ounces.  Dad was roughly 175 pounds, give or take the blueberry turnover purchased from Coffee Central at Mass General.  The doctors told us that birth length is an “inexact science.”  Evidently, the were right as Claire was officially measured at 20 1/2 inches long, but actually measured 19 inches.

Three hours after the delivery, we three were moved from the 14th floor to the 13th floor and given our recovery room.  This room was our home for the next two days.  We were finally allowed about two hours of sleep at 6:30 am.  It was the last sleep we will ever get (maybe).

Here is the first picture of Claire:

  1. Sure, it’s self-evident that all men are created equal, but I’ll be damned if all babies are created equal…Claire is the cutest EVER!!!

  2. Uh oh, now I’m going to have to update my blog. After all, it’s been 9 months. Kids don’t change much in 9 months, do they? Anyway, congratulations on the birth of Claire. She’s a beauty (second cutest ever!), and we’re very excited to have a new Vincent!

  3. Another tie! De ja vu…28 years ago it was impossible to choose the cutest Vincent boy baby. Here we go again with the cutest little girls! I’m so proud of all of you! Love your site and look foreward to keeping up with you here.
Love, Aunt Wendy (That’s Awwntie now that I’m a wash-a-shore on the cape!)

  4. Casey,
How terrific of you and James to create this blog. It is so much fun to look at the pictures and read the news.
    Claire is so damn cute!!
Thanks for making my work day…Donna
